Welcome and thank you to Stephen Caple for leading us this weekend.

Year's Mind: Mary James and Hilary (Tiny) Towner.

Intercessions:  Please  pray for those who are sick and in need within our families and community especially - David Chick, Vanessa Crocker, Dilys Dunkin, Rob Glew, Helen Cymerman, Jenny Hudson,  Ron Leggett, Keith Littlejohn, Adrian Morris and Hudson Wiggins and all those carers locally who quietly carry out their duties with little support or respite available at this time.

We pray for Jack Berryman and Daisy De Baerdermaecker who are to be married tomorrow at St. Mary Magdalene.

Our prayers continue for the desperate situation in Ukraine, Gaza and Israel, and for those trapped in Sudan, Afghanistan, Somalia, Yemen, Southern Madagascar and all countries of the world who are suffering as a result of war, famine, drought, persecution and political unrest.
..........................................................

Loving God, as we journey together through this period of vacancy, let us look to the journey of our Patron, St Mary Magdalene, for inspiration:
As she and the other disciples walked alongside Christ, give us joy in each other, as we share responsibility for our church and our community and may the gift of interregnum be a period of deeper love and fellowship.
As she stood at the foot of the Cross give us courage to face our future and embrace the unknown.
As she waited and watched by the Tomb give us patience to wait and wisdom to live and trust in the waiting.
As she witnessed Christ in the stillness of early morning grant that we may witness his presence with us at all times and let us look forward to rejoicing in that presence with our new Vicar.  Amen

Ride and Stride Saturday 14th September 2024

Participants in this annual event organised by Sussex Historic Churches Trust can raise funds for the Trust who are then able to share funds towards the upkeep of our ancient buildings through grants.

St Mary Magdalene has benefitted over many years through Marigold Pym taking part for which we are very grateful. Funds are raised through sponsorship, half of which goes to the Trust and half comes back to the participating parish. This year Martin Wood will be taking part, cycling the byways of Sussex visiting as many participating churches as he can.

Please support us if you are able, either in person on Martin’s sponsor form or through the Just Giving page at:

A message from Michael and Sabrina!

As a result of everyone giving so generously towards a leaving gift, you may remember that amongst other gifts we gave them a voucher for Dinner, Bed and Breakfast and a spa treatment at The Norfolk Mead Hotel near Norwich.

They write to say what a wonderful time they spent there last weekend. After some reluctance Michael was persuaded to have a massage which he describes as 'a journey into Paradise'. Afterwards he divulged to the masseuse how he came to be having this treat - she said 'Oh I'm religious - I'm a Jehovah's Witness'!! It made his day! Sent with effusive thanks!
